Dear Kind-Hearted Friends & Good Samaritans,I am a 46-year-old WM man who is currently unemployed, not by choice, but because life unravelled in ways I never saw coming. I am standing at one of the lowest points of my life, carrying heartbreak, loss, & the heavy weight of starting over with nothing but hope. For the past 2,5 years, I was in a committed relationship. My partner & I struggled together from the very beginning, low-paying jobs, one old car between us, constant financial pressure. We didn’t have much, but we shared everything, supported one another through repeated job losses & relocation. Note. I dont use drugs, dont smoke, dont drink!We eventually moved from the Eastern Cape to the Western Cape after I was offered better employment. We arrived with nothing, no furniture, little savings. We slowly built a home from scratch. For months, we slept on a mattress on the floor. Every appliance, every 2nd hand furniture was bought with sacrifice. Life, however, had other plans. At the end of August 2025, I was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and work in East Africa. The company covered my relocation, I left everything behind, my home, my partner, and our two cats, believing this sacrifice would secure our future.While I was away, a longtime friend of over 20 years lost his job & faced eviction. Out of kindness and loyalty, my partner and I agreed he could move in & rebuild his life. What I did not know what would later break me. 3 months after I left, my fiancée and this friend began a relationship behind my back.When my fiancée required surgery, I resigned from my job abroad, returned to South Africa to care for her. I came home 6 January 2026. (2) weeks later, our relationship ended. My former partner & so-called trusted friend were now dating. My spouse moved out our room into the housemates room. Now the 3 of us share a house. Sadly, I'm not in any position to move out, with no family support. In one moment, my world collapsed.I lost my relationship, my home as I knew it, my job, my emotional safety, & the people I trusted most. I returned home out of love and responsibility & was met with betrayal. The emotional toll has been devastating. I feel broken, used, deeply wounded, yet I am still trying to stand. Today, I am unemployed. I have no savings, no car, no financial safety net, no family support. I am currently living in a homeless shelter in Cape Town CBD (Dont judge me). I'm urgently trying to find any work, anywhere to rebuild my life.This is why I am reaching out.
