What a year it has been for Suzuki! This is what you can expect from them in 2023

Just like the headline says: What a year it has been for Suzuki!

14 years. That's how long they've been doing business in South Africa, and in that time, they've usurped the rest, trading blows with the local top dogs regarding sales.

The phrase 'more of the same' is what you can expect of the Japanese brand in 2023. Their recipe of affordable and frugal offerings has become a massive success amongst customers, with their slice of the commercial pie getting bigger going on two decades.

The company sold 4 112 new vehicles in October, 4 364 vehicles in September, while setting a new overall record in July, when it delivered 4 734 cars to customers. In October, the Swift was the brand's best-seller, with a total of 1 693 units finding new homes. This made it one of the three most popular passenger vehicles in the country, not forgetting models like the Vitara Brezza (750 units), Celerio (274 units), Ertiga (269 units), and Baleno (233 units).

Henno Havenga, Manager for Auto Dealer Sales at Suzuki Auto South Africa, says: "We are heartened to see customers for these and other Suzuki models patiently waiting for their new cars, rather than shop elsewhere. Our research and the feedback from our dealer network show that Suzuki owners, once part of the family, are willing to wait for their Suzukis."

What's coming in 2023?

We spoke to Suzuki South Africa to find out about upcoming models to be launched in 2023, and for now, only the Grand Vitara will be introduced locally in the first quarter of the new year. South Africa became one of the first countries in the world to show this model after its debut in India on 20 July.

Suzuki also had a busy 2022 - launching next generations of the Baleno and Celerio. Gumtree was also invited to the post-COVID S-Presso minor model change launch in December.

Now that you've got the knowledge, it's time to shop! Head to gumtree.co.za or your Gumtree app (click for Apple & Android), and don't forget to use your location settings to find local service information close to home.
