Position : Accountant - Remote

Working Schedule : 8am-4pm SAST

Salary Range : R55000 to R65000 (the final salary will be determined by the candidate's level of experience and at the discretion of the client)

We are seeking a full-time Accountant with direct experience in the South African work industry, specifically with VAT Recovery. This role will manage accounts payable and receivable, oversee invoices across projects, and handle daily reconciliations in both QuickBooks Online and Desktop. You will report directly to the owner, work South Africa business hours, and operate as a core member of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Own accounts payable and receivable, including intake, coding, scheduling, and payment tracking.

• Manage invoice flow across construction projects and vendors.

• Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations in QuickBooks.

• Maintain organized, secure financial records and project files.

• Prepare weekly financial summaries for leadership.

• Participate in a weekly sync to review priorities and surface risks.

• Collaborate through standard remote tools (messaging, calls, file sharing).

• Handle the accounting for multiple companies simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of direct accounting experience.

• Must have direct experience in the South Africa work industry, working with an active general contractors.

• Must have hands-on expertise with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.

• Must have experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.

• Must have proficiency in MS Office.

• Prior work with South African-based companies, and tax codes.

• Strong ownership mindset and excellent communication in English.

• Ability to manage the accounting for multiple companies at once.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent (SAICA)

• Qualified Tax Practitioner (SAIT)
