My client, a well-established and respected manufacturing company in Cape Town, is looking for an experienced Machine Fitter to join their high-performing maintenance team.

Core Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Team leader, the Machine Fitter will be responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing machinery, and conducting proactive maintenance across a range of systems. This role is hands-on and crucial to plant operations keeping systems running efficiently and safely.

What Were Looking for:

Qualified Artisan essential

NQF Level 3 Engineering Theory

35 years experience in Machine fitting

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and technical drawings

Experience with ISO 9001/45001 OHS standards

CNC machine maintenance and repair skills

Proficiency in English and Afrikaans

Machine fitting experience of 3-5 years, together with technical knowledge of drawings, equipment and machinery (specifically CNC Maintenance and repair experience)

Important Notes:

South African citizens only

Based in Cape Town or willing to relocate

Must be criminal clear

Must be available for standby and overtime/weekend work at short notice

Key Responsibilities Include:

Diagnose and repair mechanical faults

Execute preventive and corrective maintenance

Interpret and work from technical blueprints

Replace defective components and test system functionality

• Food delivery top quality food to guests; interact with guests when required; ensure outlet receive food as per requirements & plan, assist in menu planning
• Food costs monitor & maintain expenses within budget; portion sizes

The following:

Formal Education:

• Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years relevant experience after Qualification
• Road design and/or Construction monitoring experience critical

Registration:

• Candidate Engineer, Candidate Technologist or Candidate Technician with the Engineering Council of SA (ECSA)
• Experience with COTO (COLTO)

will enable you to do the following duties:

• Monitoring of the Construction Works in accordance with the Project Specifications, COTO and FIDIC;
• Auditing Contractors compliance to Contract Participation Goals;
• Auditing Site safety measures: Supervisory staff and Contractor;
• Attend to Site and Technical meetings and preparing minutes;
• Maintenance of daily site diary;
• Monitor and assess survey data;
• Monitor and assess all test results and attend to other quality control matters;
• Measurement of quantities and verification of the Contractors monthly payment certificates;
• Review, assess, record and monitor traffic accommodation measures and incidents;
• Preparing budgets and cashflows;
• Preparing Works Authorisations;
• Programme and expenditure control;
• Attend and minute work schedule meetings with Contractor;
• Preparing of site instructions and site memorandums;
• Assist with the preparation and compilation of the Contract Report;
• Attend to meetings with Community structures such as Public Liaison Committees;
• Any other reasonable request.

About the Role: Reporting to the Construction Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of material movement for the assigned project. You’ll work alongside a multinational team of expert expatriates and motivated local staff to ensure timely, compliant, and efficient logistics that align with the project schedule and operational goals.

Minimum Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline (required)
• Certifications in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management
• Minimum 7 years of proven experience in materials management and logistics coordination on construction or mineral processing projects, preferably in remote or developing regions (e.g. Africa)
• Namibian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Extensive experience in mineral processing plant or infrastructure construction logistics, with a strong track record in remote or challenging environments
• Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP or equivalent)
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and collaborate across diverse teams 
• Strong understanding of international logistics, including Incoterms, customs regulations, freight forwarding, and vendor expediting
• Thorough knowledge of QA/QC procedures in material handling, storage, packaging, and transport, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards
