Purpose:
Performs general
upkeep, repairs, and preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment to
ensure safe, functional, and clean facilities. Key duties include fixing minor
plumbing, electrical and mechanical issues, performing groundskeeping,
operating tools, responding to maintenance requests, and adhering to safety
protocols.
Key
Performance Areas:

To attend to
mechanical installations and repairs, to improve efficient running of
operations.

Assist and
support artisans in fault finding on breakdowns.
·
Inspect
building and site regularly to identify problems i.e., water leakages; broken
fence; the need for welding and all necessary maintenance.
·
Assist with
the replacement of worn or damaged motor parts/components.
·
Check oil
levels, electronic components and breaking devices and replacing defective
parts.
·
Checking the
operating functionality of safety and warning devices and attending to the
replacement thereof.
Experience & Qualifications:
·
Grade: 12 / NQF4 or
Equivalent qualification, N3 or N4 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
·
1-3 years’ experience in a
production/maintenance environment
·
Basic trade knowledge of
electrical or mechanical engineering
·
Business understanding of meat
processing and production

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Machine Setup
Set up and adjust press brake machines based on job requirements.
Install correct dies and tooling.
Input bending programs (CNC machines).
Read and interpret drawings.
Understand measurements, tolerances, and bend angles.
Operating the Machine
Operate manual or CNC press brake machines.
Position and align metal sheets properly.
Monitor bending process to ensure accuracy.
Quality Control
Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Inspect parts to ensure they meet specifications.
Make adjustments if measurements are off.
Maintenance
Perform routine machine maintenance.
Keep work area clean and safe.
Report mechanical issues to supervisors.
Safety Compliance
Follow workplace safety standards.
Wear required PPE (gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots).

Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, angles)
