Job Summary
The warehouse picker plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the warehouse by accurately selecting and preparing items for shipment. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and efficiency are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Order Picking: Accurately pick items from designated locations within the warehouse based on customer orders or requisitions.
2. Inventory Management: Maintain inventory accuracy by keeping track of picked items and updating inventory records accordingly.
3. Quality Control: Inspect picked items for any damages, defects, or discrepancies, and report any issues to the supervisor.
4. Packing and Labeling: Properly pack picked items into containers or boxes, ensuring they are secure and protected during transit. Label packages with appropriate shipping information.
5. Loading and Unloading: Assist with loading picked items onto delivery trucks or pallets, and unload incoming shipments as needed.
6. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
7. Equipment Operation: Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
8. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other warehouse staff, including supervisors, packers, and drivers, to fulfill orders and meet deadlines.
9. Cleanliness and Organization: Keep work areas clean and organized, including shelves, aisles, and storage areas, to facilitate smooth workflow and prevent accidents.
10. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements in warehouse operations.
11. Forklift Operations, safely operate the forklift to move, stack, and retrieve materials and products with the warehouse or distribution centre
12. Loading and unloading: Load and unload trucks , containers and storage racks materials and products using the forklift, ensuring proper placement and secure stacking
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or distribution center preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
**Physical Requirements: **
- Ability to lift and carry heavy Boxes (up to 15kg).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various temperatures and environments (e.g., cold storage areas).
