Payroll & HR Administrator

Germiston, Gauteng

Salary: R20000 to R25000 p/m

Role Purpose

The Payroll & HR Administrator will be responsible for the full payroll function and provide comprehensive HR administrative support within a fast-paced commercial engineering environment. The role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills to ensure smooth payroll processing and HR operations.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

  • Manage and process the full payroll function (weekly and/or monthly)
  • Capture, verify and maintain payroll data including new engagements, terminations, leave, overtime and deductions
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL)
  • Prepare and submit EMP201, EMP501 and other SARS submissions
  • Reconcile payroll reports and General Ledger accounts
  • Generate payslips and payroll reports
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and audit trails
  • Experience with PaySpace highly advantageous

HR Administration

  • Maintain employee records and HR databases
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Draft employment contracts and HR-related documentation
  • Administer leave records and attendance registers
  • Support disciplinary, grievance and performance management processes
  • Assist with recruitment administration (advertising, screening, scheduling interviews)
  • Ensure compliance with labour legislation and company policies

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Relevant qualification in Payroll / HR / Finance (advantageous)
  • Minimum 35 years experience in payroll administration
  • Proven experience managing full payroll function
  • Experience in HR administration
  • Working knowledge of South African labour legislation and payroll compliance

Technical Skills

  • Experience with PaySpace (preferred) or similar payroll systems
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of SARS eFiling and statutory submissions
  • HR systems experience advantageous
