Payroll & HR Administrator
Germiston, Gauteng
Salary: R20000 to R25000 p/m
Role Purpose
The Payroll & HR Administrator will be responsible for the full payroll function and provide comprehensive HR administrative support within a fast-paced commercial engineering environment. The role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and strong organisational skills to ensure smooth payroll processing and HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Manage and process the full payroll function (weekly and/or monthly)
- Capture, verify and maintain payroll data including new engagements, terminations, leave, overtime and deductions
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL)
- Prepare and submit EMP201, EMP501 and other SARS submissions
- Reconcile payroll reports and General Ledger accounts
- Generate payslips and payroll reports
- Maintain accurate payroll records and audit trails
- Experience with PaySpace highly advantageous
HR Administration
- Maintain employee records and HR databases
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes
- Draft employment contracts and HR-related documentation
- Administer leave records and attendance registers
- Support disciplinary, grievance and performance management processes
- Assist with recruitment administration (advertising, screening, scheduling interviews)
- Ensure compliance with labour legislation and company policies
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant qualification in Payroll / HR / Finance (advantageous)
- Minimum 35 years experience in payroll administration
- Proven experience managing full payroll function
- Experience in HR administration
- Working knowledge of South African labour legislation and payroll compliance
Technical Skills
- Experience with PaySpace (preferred) or similar payroll systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of SARS eFiling and statutory submissions
- HR systems experience advantageous
