Huis Nuweland Retirement Home is seeking a compassionate,
professional, and dedicated Enrolled Nurse to join our caring team and
contribute to the delivery of exceptional geriatric care to our residents.
Key Responsibilities
Nursing Care
• Provide high-quality nursing care to residents in accordance with
professional standards and
home policies.
• Conduct daily resident rounds and monitor residents’ health status.
• Perform accurate handovers and maintain continuous reporting systems.
• Monitor and record vital signs and ensure timely intervention when
abnormalities are
identified.
• Assist with doctor’s rounds and ensure prompt execution of medical
instructions.
• Maintain and update individualized care plans.
• Ensure prescribed diets and nutritional requirements are adhered to.
• Coordinate referrals to medical and allied healthcare services where
necessary.
• Participate in resident admissions and assessments.
Medication Management
• Administer, record, store, and control medication safely and accurately.
• Maintain Schedule 6 and 7 medication registers.
• Ensure medication procedures and protocols are followed at all times.
• Monitor allergies and ensure safe medication practices.
Human Resource Support
• Assist with staff orientation, communication, and supervision.
• Participate in staff meetings and daily toolbox talks.
• Support training and development initiatives within the nursing team.
• Assist with maintaining work lists and shift continuity.
Administration & Record Keeping
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records and nursing documentation.
• Compile and maintain care plans and nursing reports.
• Ensure compliance with nursing regulations, policies, and procedures.
Infection Prevention & Control
• Implement and maintain infection control procedures across the facility.
• Promote a safe, hygienic, and healthy environment for residents and staff.
• Assist with infection monitoring and reporting requirements.
Reporting & Liaison
• Liaise professionally with doctors, therapists, laboratories, residents’
families, and the
multidisciplinary team.
• Report incidents, concerns, and resident care matters to management.
• Participate in resident selection and admissions processes where required.
Requirements
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled
Nurse.
• Experience in geriatric or frail care nursing will be advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of nursing procedures, medication control, and elderly care.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work shifts and function effectively within a multidisciplinary
team.
