RED CROSS TRAINED CARER WITH OVER 10 YRS EXP WITH PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC ILLINESS.I SEEK PRIVATE POST

Good day My name is Getrude, a highly skilled and qualified care giver who was trained firstly with St Johns Ambulance Association in Zimbabwe as a Home-based carer in 1997 and then RedCross Zimbabwe in 1998 as a Home-based care giver as well. I went on to do voluntary work and later worked permanently in a major hospital as a Nurse Aid and had the opportunity to with various patients who needed care. They included frail bed ridden patients, post operated patients, patients with severe dementia/Alzheimer's, patients in various cancer stages and those facing various disabilities. I performed various duties which included, bedhanging in the morning, changing nappies, bedpan and assisting other patients to the bathrooms, feeding patients, dressing wounds and helping patients to take their medication on time, checking vitals like sugar and Bp etc I moved to stay in Cape Town and further did a refresher training in Basic Home Care Nursing with NEW HOPE OF NURSING. From March 2017 to April 2020, I was employed in Claremont as carer for a frail patient who had dementia, was bedridden and needed special care. I performed various duties for her which included, cleaning her room, changing all bedding, bathing her, skin and mouth care, making her daily meals and feeding her and providing much needed companionship. I was then employed again in Newlands from mid 2020 when Covid-19 started as Care for an aged couple who needed nursing. The husband sadly passed away and my attention was focused on the frail partner who was frail and had dementia, bed bound. From March 2022 to March 2023, I was employed again for another frail patient in Claremont who had dementia, working a full-time position.
