Description
Short Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to effectively manage the packaging production line and the team per shift.
You will need to ensure all procedures regarding equipment setup and operation, reporting regarding shift activities, autonomous maintenance, quality, housekeeping, food safety, health and safety and reporting regarding the production line is adhered to during the shift.
Responsibilities:
Pack product according to production plan as instructed by the Packaging Plant Manager.
Receive all packaging material and the responsibility thereof.
Ensure the oil supply line is optimally controlled through correct selection of the type of oil, correct tank selection, correct valve and pipe selection, filter selection and correct pump operation exit.
Ensure the correct makeup of blends as per the production schedule.
Ensure effective operation of the production line to ensure maximum line efficiencies.
Ensure all autonomous maintenance and continuous preventative maintenance for the line and equipment.
Report maintenance issues to the Packaging Plant Manager and escalate where necessary.
Ensure the final product is packed within the correct configuration during palletizing.
Perform continuous quality checks on the line.
Ensure all damaged material is stored in correct identified containers and is reported accurately.
Responsible to identify and return all unused material during a production run.
Responsible for effective housekeeping of the line and work area of responsibility.
Effective time management of the team on and during shift.
Ensure all logs, inspections, and downtime reporting are completed per shift.
Available for all training as required and scheduled by management.
Assist the Packaging Plant Manager to train all personnel regarding their operational functions, equipment operation, quality requirements, and food and safety requirements.
Comply with safety, food safety, and environmental procedures as per the Soill Policy
Responsible for team disciplinaries, leave arrangements and performance management.
Any other reasonable relevant task allocated by Packaging Plant Manager as required by operations.
Key Competencies:
Education and Experience
Minimum of a Grade 12 or NQF Level 4
Previous experience within an FMCG environment
FMCG Operator or Technical experience will be an advantage
A forklift license will be an advantage
Knowledge of Food Safety (FSSC)
Knowledge of OEE Management
Interpersonal Skills
Good time management skills
Must be able to lead various small teams
Must be able to work well together in a team
Able to assist with the discipline of staff
Able to conduct on the job training
Disciplined and reliable
