*Reference: JHB000337-MvG-1* A leading Chemical manufacturing company has a position available for a Senior Financial Accountant, based in Johannesburg. * Description:* The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations. The Senior Financial Accountant will be involved with preparing financial reports, statements, taxation, budgets, internal and external audits, balance sheet and income statement reconciliations. *Roles and Responsibilities:* Consistently achieve agreed targets by conducting the following: * Support the Financial Manager with the day to day activities, and reporting and assisting head office staff with technical matters. * Support staff activities with maintaining, analyzing and reporting on financial accounting data. * Establish necessary financial controls, approve various expenditures and obligations, provide support for both internal and external audits, and ensure all activities conform to statutory legislation, company policies and procedures. * Review monthly management accounts and ensure adequate explanations for over/under expenditure. * Compile Annual Budgets. * Preparation of Audit and Tax packs. * Prepare and submit ad-hoc financial reports required by the client. * Provide assistance to the various business units on budgets, expenses, margins and technical accounting matters. * Month-end processing. * Ad-hoc financial responsibilities. * Education:* * BCom Accounting * Big 4 Company Articles advantageous * CIMA qualifications * Relevant Experience:* * A minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience at a similar level. * Previous experience of working within a large finance or audit team is beneficial. * Core Job Related Competencies:* * In-depth knowledge of financial principles and processes (IFRS, Tax Regulations and other applicable legislation). * Good understanding of relevant legislation. * Good understanding of core business principles and processes. * Good knowledge of manufacturing environment. * Exceptional communication skills. * Ability to manage conflict. * Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications. * Good tax knowledge. * Interpersonal/Communication:* * Sound interpersonal skills, creativity and ability to mix with other people. * Sound communication skills. * Have a high standard of written English skills. * Excellent verbal ability, communication, negotiation and presentation skills. *Self Management:* * Responsiveness * Attention to detail * Reliability * Integrity * Self-confidence and awareness * Assertiveness * Self-starter and quick learner * Problem-solving and solutions orientation * Organized and self-motivated * Strong achievement orientation and ambition to succeed * Determination and tenacity * Bias for action * Presentability *Candidates that meet the cri
