Description

Main purpose of the job:
To provide best practice clinical assessments, data recording, and monitoring of patients accessing services at primary health clinics
Additionally, to provide training and mentoring to healthcare workers and audit feedback on facility performance for hypertension identification and management in patients living with HIV
Location:
City of Johannesburg Region F
Key performance areas:
Co-ordinate the clinic vitals areas and make sure patients have their vitals measurements taken
Take blood pressure and other vitals measurements
Provide measurements to patients together with explanations of their measurements
Provide patients with educational material
Ensure there are functioning blood pressure monitors in the clinic
Complete any study or clinic documentation
Train healthcare workers on HIV and hypertension guidelines and algorithms
Train healthcare workers on the correct taking of blood pressure measurements
Mentor facility staff on hypertension identification and management
Conduct other clinical in-service training and quality improvement sessions with healthcare workers
Review patient medical records and note clinical management. Provide individual feedback to healthcare workers
Use dashboards and graphics to provide facility performance updates at routine clinic staff meetings
Compile relevant reports and feedback on all activities
Inform patients about IHEART-SA and/or sub-studies
Screen potential participants and obtain informed consent according to the protocol
Administer study questionnaires/interviews
Required minimum education and training:
Diploma in General Nursing, Professional Nurse
Professional body registration:
South African Nursing Council (SANC) in General Nursing
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 3 years nursing experience in Primary Healthcare Clinics
1 year of experience in quality improvement
1 year of training/mentoring experience
Driver’s license
Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:
A diploma in Primary Health Care or similar will be an advantage
NIMART certification advantageous
Certificate in good clinical practice
Be tactful, respectful and maintain confidentiality
Good administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft office
Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Respectful with sound work ethics
