Job Description

Sales Manager

The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing overall business in the consumer market through effective and profitable management of the area including negotiations with existing and potential high-profile customers. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing and managing all supply chain logistics functions, which may include production planning, material procurement, inventory control, rate setting, outsourcing, vendor selection and distribution. Ensures that staff are focused on continuous improvement of services and processes.

Key Performance Indicators:
Investigates existing marketing / business practices and recommends opportunities for improvement within the company.
Meet the sales targets.
Identify new business opportunities.
Assume responsibilities for every aspect of freight supply chain, ensure correct and on time collection and delivery of products.
Provide technical advice on application of products / services.
In-depth knowledge of specialty products / service and their application.
Reviews and analyses expenditure financial and operations reports to provide input in the need for increase in fares or tariffs, expansion of existing schedules of expansion of routes.
Prepares recommendations for management evaluation.
Recommends capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment to increase efficiency and services of operations department.
Approves requisition for equipment materials and supplies within limits of branch budget.
Assist in the development of policies, standards and procedures for product movement, monitoring and ensuring compliance and the maintenance of the highest standards of safety and environmental behavior and performance.
Relationship management with all stakeholders and ensures adherence to service level agreements and oversees performance of all logistics contracts.
Promotes alignment by understanding and communicating customer needs and requirements throughout the organisation.
Running day to day activities of branch.
Dealing with customers based queries.
Floor management and fleet monitoring.
Capturing / approving of costings.
Employee recruitment training and discipline.
Subcontractors invoicing and deductions.
Petty cash control.
Monthly reports.
Quote approvals.
Qualifications
Senior Certificate.
Relevant supply chain / logistics qualifications will be an advantage.
Sales or marketing qualification will be an advantage.
Skills
Proven business development experience in the logistics industry will be an advantage.
3-5 Years work related skills, knowledge or experience.
Code B drivers License and own transport.
Willing to travel to clients nationally.
Willing to work overtime and be available after business hours and during weekends.
