Plant Head - Mining

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.



Key duties include but not limited to:

Strategic management of the plant and metallurgical functions
Provide input to establishment of overall company strategic vision, mission and objectives from a Plant perspective.
Develop a strategic vision, mission and objectives to the Plant.
Manage and co-ordinate Company Business Partner (Minopex)
Metal in concentrate production
Metallurgical accounting systems
Identify the Plant 's best practices and include in Plant's strategic plan.
Identify Local, Regional and National issues which could impact on the Plant Dept. and develop appropriate strategies to address these issues.
Company strategic vision, mission and objectives developed with Plant input
Plant strategic plan developed and implemented in conjunction with Plant staff
Strategic plan managed in terms of objectives and deadlines
Plant best practice identified and implement.
Manage the operation and provide metallurgical consultancy service
Develop relationships with applicable technology suppliers and Vedanta peers.
Providing a strategic Metallurgical advice/guidance service to Plant Managers.
Develop and implement systems, processes and targets for the Plant.
Provide Metallurgical input into life of mine plan.
Provide stock available estimates to marketing function.
Manage/monitors Metallurgical production through:
Assessing metallurgical statistics.
On-site visits.
Take appropriate corrective action to correct non-adherence to targets.
Take appropriate action to implement improvements to Plant efficiencies.
Manage Metallurgical service section:
Short-term optimisation of metal recovery.
Re-agent consumption process control.
Manage Metallurgical projects:
Increasing life of mine.
Manufacturing of own re-agents and value addition of by products.
Provide Metallurgical reports to EXCO, Vedanta corporate office (monthly, weekly, daily).
Relationship with technology suppliers results in successful application of technologies at Gamsberg.
Advice/guidance to line managers results in the efficient Metallurgical systems/services being implemented
Systems, processes and targets set and implemented
Metallurgical input provides for LOM plan
Stock estimates provided timeously
Metallurgical production targets are met timeously
Non-adherence to targets identified and appropriate action taken
Potential improvements identified and implemented
Metallurgical service section provides efficient service
Metallurgical projects identified, managed and implemented successfully
Metallurgical reports provided timeously
Oversee and control the departmental budget/costs
Estimate annual financial requirements for the department.
Prepare and submit annual budget.
Monitor expenditure on ongoing and monthly basis.
