SA STEELWORKS - FITTERS ASSISTANT
AIRPORT INDUSTRIA – CAPE TOWN
The SA Steelworks Fitters Department requires a committed, hardworking and motivated individual to join their team. The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to General functions within the Fitters Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Changing water and hydraulic piping
- Strip machine parts for cleaning
- Assemble machine parts after cleaning them
- Perform routine inspections
- Do greasing on plant equipment as well as vehicles
- Filling of grease guns
- Cleaning of the workshop areas (Housekeeping )
- Be able to measure equipment, read a tape measure
- Assisting the Manager / Supervisor with Ad hoc duties
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and instructions and advise the responsible person whenever there are risks identified
Under supervision:
- Assist the fitter with bigger maintenance tasks
- Assist with Operating grinders ,drilling machines safely
- Assist with changing drill bits and grinder disks
- Fit bearings and grease before assembly
- Identify different tools /spanners
QUALIFYING REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12 certificate
- Certificate in Fitting and Turning
- Previous experience in a similar environment
- A general knowledge off hand tools and electrical tools
- Willingness to work overtime as per operational requirements if and when required

- Ability to work in a team environment
- Able to work independently
- Ability to work under challenging physical and climatic conditions
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to function efficiently in pressurized work situations
- In good health and physically fit
