Description
Role & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that vehicles are serviced and maintained according to the schedule and inspection checklists.
- Emergency repairs on vehicles / equipment assess and prioritize emergency breakdowns.
- Compulsory overtime and being on standby.
- Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans.
- Collaborates with other diesel mechanics.
- Presents reports and plans to management for approval.
- Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely – own tools are essential to company
- standards.
- Inventory control
- Welding and cutting materials if required, using arc welding or flame cutting
- equipment
- Responsible for all workmanship done
- Comply to all Health & Safety regulations
Experience and Qualification
- Minimum 5 years’ workshop experience and knowledge of Heavy Duty trucks ( hydraulics and refrigeration)
- Knowledge of basic auto electrical and repairs.
- Experience of Tail Lifts (Hydraulics)
- Matric + Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic Red Seal
- Computer Literacy (MS Office, Outlook)
- Code 14 with PDP

Main Purpose of Job
Assist the service technician and execute technical tasks, in completion of repairs and services on Trucks and related equipment.
Responsibilities:• Attend to repair and maintenance as assigned• Assist with on-road repairs under the supervision of the Service Technician• Maintain levels of productivity and efficiency as instructed• General workshop duties: (examples and not limited to)- Cleaning the workshop- Neatening areas in workshop where space is required- Assist with safely moving and washing trucks- Attend mandatory DAF per E-portal and company requirementsAdditional general responsibilities as required by the Service Technicians, Workshop Foreman and Branch Service Manager on site• Ensure that all tools and equipment is in a safe area before and after usage, and in working order. Required Qualifications/Experience
Grade 10 / NQF level 2 with exposure to Technology and technical practical workA certificate or Diploma in Vehicle repairs, mechanics or related filed will be an advantageA minimum of one-year experience in a workshop environment and experience in basic vehicle repairs essentialPrevious experience of DAF vehicle maintenance in a workshop (Per MEIBC codes based on years’ experience)
