Introduction Core purpose of the role:
The purpose of this role is to establish a sustainable culture of operational excellence in the organisation that will lead to continuous improvement of all operational systems, processes and standards in order to optimise the customer experience and enhance shareholder value.

Specification Key deliverables and outputs:
1.Strategy and direction
a.Develop and implement the company’s operational excellence strategy and policy direction
b.Coordinate the ICUBED innovations and improvement process and portal
c.Evaluate and adjudicate innovation and improvement suggestions
d.Adjudicate operational excellence status of accounts/teams
2.Tracking, recording and reporting
a.Provide management with scheduled project status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on selected projects
b.Establish measurement, tracking and reporting systems of benefit from improvement initiatives
3.Financial Performance
a.Develop and implement a deployment plan which will provide the required return on investment through waste elimination, cost reduction and improved operational efficiencies
b.Assist operations with measuring, tracking, and reporting of the financial benefits from improvement projects
4.Operational Excellence Training
a.Facilitate training of the staff complement according to the agreed account or department targets
5.Continuous Improvement
a.Develop business units’ internal problem-solving capacity through training and coaching of problem solving methodologies, Kaizens and Kaizen events;
b.Expand the use of operational excellence methodologies and structured problem-solving approach in the Barloworld Logistics business
c.Develop practitioners within the business according to the account or departmental goal OE status.
d.Create, implement, embed and drive continuous improvement and innovation in the business in order to fully meet SLA’s and cost parameters.
e.Continuously measure and assess the effectiveness of the continuous improvement initiatives and programmes, identify gaps, and take remedial actions.
f.Support stabilisation of new implementations in such a way that customer expectations are fully delivered on, and stabilisation period is achieved in as short and painless a manner as possible.
6.Enabling culture change
a.Facilitate culture change according to the culture score criteria goal status and functional OE steercom;
