Key Duties and Responsibilities
Machinery Maintenance and Repair
Machinery Maintenance and Repair
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems, including gearboxes, bearings, drives, and pumps.
- Inspect, overhaul, and replace motors and gearboxes to ensure continuous production.
- Repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, and compressors.
- Maintain conveyor systems, including the repair of belts, rollers, photocells, and limit switches.
- Assemble and install new equipment like feed bins, chain conveyors, and screening systems according to blueprints
- Align and calibrate machinery to meet strict manufacturing tolerances.
- Construct foundations for heavy machines using steel and cement where necessary.
- Conduct fault-finding on electrical control panels, circuits, PLC (Programmable Logic Control) systems and VSD (Variable Speed Control)
- Identify the root cause of malfunctions through visual inspections, listening for irregularities, and using diagnostic software
- Fabricate or modify machine parts using tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
- Perform arc, MIG, or TIG welding to repair metal components and structural frames.
- Adhere to strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and OSHA/health and safety regulations to prevent accidents.
- Document all repairs, inspections, and spare parts usage in a maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Skills: Proficiency in reading complex schematics, rigging heavy loads, and operating forklifts or overhead cranes.
- A valid drivers license.
- Must have relevant qualifications eg. trade
