Description
Our client, a leading name in the manufacturing industry seeks a dynamic Junior Factory/Punching Manager to join their Durban Team. The successful incumbent will report to the Operations Manager. The purpose of the role is to direct and manage production workers in the punching stage of manufactured goods; and the responsibility to ensure that the production process is carried out according to the goals set by the company's and clients’ requirements and specifications.  1.    Manage the following machines and areas:  1.1    Die-cutting 1.2    Focusight 1.3    Windowpatcher 1.4    Gralex 1.5    Tub machine 1.6    Flexo machine 1.7    Stripping of excess board 2.    Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.  3.    Manages the punching and stripping processes of printed materials. 4.    Checks all work in progress. 5.    Shifts priority of orders and operating schedules as work requirements demand. 6.    Reviews production requirements and writes up detailed work specifications for the department. 7.    Improve efficiency of machines and production processes within the department. 8.    Managing staffing and balancing workloads to reduce overtime. Abilities: 1.    Attention to detail and accuracy. 2.    Sense of urgency. 3.    Conflict management and working knowledge of the LRA and disciplinary procedures. 4.    Training, coaching, mentoring, succession and skills planning.   5.    Planning and organizing. 6.    Strong communication skills. 7.    Change management. 8.    Ability to analyse trends and draw conclusions from data.  9.    Instruct, direct, and evaluate employees. 10.    Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.  11.    Thorough knowledge of the packaging process and machines will be an advantage. 12.    Thorough knowledge of the use and application of papers, inks, fluids, and chemicals used in printing and packaging materials and machines will be an advantage. 13.    Considerable knowledge of quality procedures and standards. Skills / Experience: 1.    Knowledge and/or experience of Package Printing Processes; Material Production Process, Material Selection arid Package Design criteria will be an advantage 2.    Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time with little direction. 3.    Execute projects and initiatives in a structured and controlled manner.  4.    Extensive knowledge of the OHS Act and Safety Management Systems (incl. HIRA). 5.    Extensive knowledge of FSSC 22000 & ISO9001 6.    5 – 8 Years managerial experience in manufacturing. Expected Qualifications: 1.    Grade 12 2.    Relevant qualifications: BTech/Diploma/Degree  Abilities: 1.    Attention to detail and accuracy. 2.    Sense of urgency. 3.    Conflict management and working knowledge of the LRA and disciplinary procedures. 4.    Training, coaching, mentoring, success
