Description
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the toolroom workshop
- Manage and lead a team of toolmakers, machinists, and technicians
- Ensure timely manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance systems for tooling
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce downtime
- Monitor production schedules and align toolroom output with operational demands
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, health & safety regulations, and company policies
- Manage budgets, costs, and resource allocation within the toolroom
- Liaise with engineering, production, and quality departments to support business objectives
- Trade Test qualification (Toolmaker or relevant discipline)
- Proven experience in a toolroom environment within manufacturing
- Minimum 58 years experience in a supervisory or management role
- Strong technical knowledge of machining processes, tooling design, and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience with CNC machines and toolroom equipment
- Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments
- Exposure to CAD/CAM systems
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles
