Sales Engineer

We currently have a vacancy within our Packaged Gases department. We invite suitably qualified candidates who meet the criteria outlined below to apply.

Position Overview

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for driving sales growth within the Gases business unit by securing profitable new business across the full range of merchant gases products and applications within the region. This will be achieved in line with current targets, strategic priorities, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Additionally, the role involves maintaining and servicing the companys existing regional customer base to ensure ongoing satisfaction and loyalty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new client opportunities to achieve and exceed set sales targets.
  • Manage and nurture existing accounts, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction is consistently delivered and maintained.
  • Enhance Air Products market presence through targeted marketing initiatives and engagement strategies.
  • Ensure full compliance with company SHERQ procedures and policies, including relevant legislation, particularly at customer sites.
  • Actively participate in the ongoing management and improvement of existing safety programmes.
  • Perform sales administrative duties and support various ad hoc tasks as required.
  • Commit to continuous business and personal development within the sales environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Grade 12 certificate including Mathematics, Accounting, Science, English, and Afrikaans.
  • Recognised Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Sales & Marketing.
  • Minimum of five years sales experience within the gas, chemical, technical, or related industry.
  • Valid, unendorsed Code 8 drivers licence.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear sales activity reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a strong focus on customer-centric service.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays.
  • Technical knowledge of welding, speciality gases, fabrication, bulk processes, and applications to provide tailored gas solutions to the market.
