Page Sub Editor

Responsible for the overall visual look of all print pages.
Taking ownership of pages from content editors; and/or applying page designs; creating page layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
Styling of typography, placing of images and captions.
Working within the framework of editorial standards design guidelines.
Ensuring content fits to the most visually pleasing and effective way in getting the message across.
Providing an overall copy-editing service, correcting grammar, writing headlines and rewriting copy as required.
Applying a sound understanding of legal, ethical and quality standards of the media business.
Troubleshooting technical layout questions.
Oversee publication production, including artwork, layout, typesetting and printing ensuring adherence to deadlines.
Re-distributing workload as required, ensuring that pages are completed on time and potential delays are prevented.
Proofing pages for content editors, making corrections to content and outputting pages.
Soft proofing pages.
Will be required to perform any or other duties as and when required across regions and platforms.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have 5 years extensive working experience in print production
Must have experience in coaching and mentoring of junior staff
Relevant tertiary qualification
Must be fully computer literate on Naviga and InDesign, protocols and workflows
Must have experience in using a content management system
Advanced knowledge of media law and ethics
