Johannesburg - Responsible for configuration, maintenance, monitoring and growth of the core infrastructure. Key stakeholder Relationship:InternalNOC, Sales, OPS, Projects, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Global MonitoringExternalCustomers, Service Providers, Vendors Minimum Qualifications:CCNP Minimum Experience:10 Years active experience in a telecommunications environment in routing and switchingExperience in a global network preferable Other Requirements:Must be willing to work weekends shifts on a monthly basisMust be willing to work flexible shifts and overtimeAble to travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis CompetenciesThorough knowledge of:Network protocols, routing and switching in the telecommunications industryhardware and implementationServices including, I-LAN, E-LAN, VPLS, MPLS, IPV4, IPV6, implementationsSkills:Understanding of networking protocols and debuggingAnalysis of network data flows and outputsUnderstanding of network design and best practicesWritten and verbal communication skillsImplementation of cutting edge technologyBehavioralAnalytical skillsCustomer ResponsivenessProblem solvingAttention to detailInitiativeStress toleranceResilience Role / Responsibilities:AVAILABILITY OF INFRASTRUCTURETasksMonitor hardware to ensure availability and accessibility of core infrastructure devicesRespond to alerts on IRIS and implement appropriate corrective actionDiagnose root cause of problem and make appropriate recommendations on solutionMEASUREMENT OF CORE CAPACITIES & ENVIRONMENTAL VARIABLES TasksMonitor and ensure capacity planning is maintainedEnsure accurate and consistent measurement of general health, CPU, temperature and memory within core SLA parametersMAINTENANCE OF INFRASTRUCTURETasksEnsure optimal IGP routing paths, with primary and secondary active segmentsEnsure optimal recovery between hardware architectureProvide information to the NOC regarding the Customer impact, duration, estimated impact and recovery strategyCORE GROWTH AND NEW SERVICESTasksAchieve core activations, turn downs and turn upAchieve upliftment/upgrades tasks per countryPOP OptimizationRESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENTTasksAchieve effective Research resultsProvide documentation on R&D projects assigned RFPRespond to RFP, and customer technical queries
