Job Title: Professional Nurse Cath Lab

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a highly qualified Professional Cath Lab Registered Nurse who will be responsible for providing individualised, holistic, and person-centred nursing care to patients and their families. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, using scientifically based nursing theories and processes to ensure optimal patient care in the Cath Lab.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a clinical resource to assist personnel in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care in the unit.
  • Ensure communication and interaction with family and health professionals regarding optimal patient care, acting as a patient advocate when necessary.
  • Assess, plan, and implement advanced nursing care in a specialized field in accordance with standard nursing care procedures, as set out in the standards and SOPs, as well as nursing care theory and medical direction.
  • Participate as a professional member of the multidisciplinary team in evaluating, developing, and implementing health care plans and treatment regimes.
  • Evaluate patients' care needs; initiate individualised nursing care plans; co-ordinate patient services.
  • Prepare day/night shift documentation that reflects patient status, patient/staff ratio and problems.
  • Communicate with the unit manager to keep them informed of activities and problems.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in Cath Lab.
  • Relevant experience in the nursing discipline.
  • Thorough knowledge of general/specialized nursing theory and practice.
  • Professional flexibility in working hours, including night duty and weekend shifts.
  • Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required from all accredited bodies and appropriate health legislation.
  • Ability to work effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial.
  • Ability to maintain and encourage effective communication and interaction within the unit, other members of the multidisciplinary team, and the public.
  • Active involvement in own professional development to maintain a satisfactory level of skill and knowledge.
