> “Nachahnung von Baptista Quadagnini Fecit Anno 1705”
indicating a Guadagnini-model copy made for John G. Murdoch & Co., London—the famous supplier behind Britain’s Maidstone Violin Classes movement that brought classical music into schools around the turn of the century.
Origin: Markneukirchen, Germany (distributed by Murdoch & Co., London)
Period: circa 1895 – 1910
Model: Guadagnini copy (“The Maidstone”)
Features: Spruce top, maple back & ribs, reddish-amber varnish, ebony fittings
