Buying Guide
When looking for a
hydroponic grow tray, there are several things you should consider.
Longevity
There are so many
benefits to having a grow tray that offers longevity. By using a grow tray that
lasts many years, you eliminate the annoyance of having to replace your trays
with new purchases every season.
To ensure your grow
tray offers longevity, it will need to be made from strong and durable plastic.
The plastic should be quite thick so that it can withstand impact and resist
cracking under the weight of water and plants.
Cost
It is possible to
buy hydroponic grow trays fairly cheaply, but this is typically for inferior
plastic, which is weak and will only last for a single use.
To keep costs down,
the best solution is to buy a high-quality tray at the beginning that will last
you a long time. While the initial cost might be more than the cheaper trays,
you won’t need to replace high-quality trays for many years, and so, will end
up spending less overall.
Growing Food?
If you are growing
edible plants in your hydroponic garden, then you need to consider what your
grow trays are constructed from. Some plastics, such as PVC or polystyrene, can
leach harmful chemicals into your water, which will then be absorbed by your
plant's roots and dispersed throughout the body of your plant.
Our trays are molded from ABS which is a food grade thermoplastic and is for use in food
processing.
ABS Offers These Advantages
· Excellent impact,
chemical and abrasion resistance
· Superior stiffness
and strength
· Easily machined and
thermoformed
· Easy to paint and
glue
· Good dimensional
stability
· Excellent
electrical properties

We manufacture our grow tubes locally in a
variety of sizes. (300, 400 and 600mm length) We can custom make other sizes
and colours. Grow tubes are protective plastic tubes designed to nurture and safeguard young trees, vines, and shrubs during their early growth stages. They create a beneficial microclimate that promotes faster and healthier growth by allowing light to pass through while preserving moisture and regulating temperature1.Here are some key benefits of using grow tubes:Protection from Wildlife: They shield young plants from browsing animals and pests.Enhanced Growth: The greenhouse effect inside the tube accelerates growth rates.Environmental Shield: They protect seedlings from harsh weather conditions like wind and excessive sunlight.Moisture Retention: They help maintain consistent moisture levels around the plant.
Vine Protectors have shown some distinct
advantages for establishment. Vine Protectors get the vine off to a quick start
by promoting upright, rapid growth without the added labour of tying to stakes.During dry periods without irrigation they can provide moisture at the base
from condensation that aids in establishment. The tubes also protect young
vines from pests such as rabbits and buck if other means of protection are not
in place. From the new grower’s standpoint, maybe their best attribute is to
reduce the danger to the vine when applying post-emergence or contact
herbicides.
