Doctor Who is a pinball machine designed by Bill Pfutzenreuter (Pfutz) and Barry Oursler, and released by Midway (under the Bally brand name) in September 1992. It is based on the television series Doctor Who. As stated in the Gameplay section, the rulesheet is rather different from other pinball machines released at the time, which didn't help popularity (and even now it is still seen as an exotic machine amongst collectors) as casual players did not understand the complex rule changes that occur during the game.

Description: Gottlieb Hot Shot pinball, Gottlieb Big Shot pinball. Same game as Gottlieb Big Shot, just different number of players (4 players versus 2 players). Gottlieb sold this game design in the two flavors, though they are essentially the exact same game (with slight artwork differences). The 2 player version (BigShot) had a lower price than the 4 player (HotShot), and was marketed to game operators with less money to spend.There are two banks of 7 drop targets, a single pop bumper, two 3" flippers, two slingshots, one kickout hole, and an outlane return gate. Putting the ball in the 8-ball kickout hole opens the outlane return gate. Knocking down all the drop targets on one side or the other (solids or strips) lights one of the center standup targets for Replay (the two center targets alternates as Special with a 100 point unit in the backbox). The score card for this game is available in Photoshop format here.They made 9000 Gottlieb Hot Shot pinballs, and 2900 Gottlieb Big Shot pinball machines. They also made a single player AAB version of this game called Pro Pool (800 units made).
