Lips is a singing game in the vein of Sony’s SingStar series of games. Much like the popular past time of karaoke, players sing along to the lyrics of songs that are displayed on-screen. The game also judges you based on pitch, earning you points based on how accurately you sang. At certain points in the game, players are prompted to perform gestures with the microphone (such as tilting it upwards). When they do this, the bonus ‘Star Stream’ mode is activated which earns even more points.
Lips can be played in either Solo, VS, or Co-Op modes. At any time during solo play, a second player can shake their wireless mike to create a multiplayer game. VS mode is a battle for the highest score, while Co-Op has players working together to achieve a high score. If both players trigger Star Stream simultaneously in co-op, their star bonuses are doubled.
There are also special game modes for those who want to try something different: in Kiss, the on-screen couple gets closer together the better that both players sing. When they get close enough, you’ll be prompted to tilt your mikes up to make them kiss. Time Bomb lights a bomb’s fuse at the start of the song. By singing well, you’ll fill a glass up with water – when there’s enough water inside, use it to extinguish the fuse.
Players who don’t want to sing can still participate by using a controller as a Noise Maker. This allows them to add sound effects such as snapping fingers, cowbells, tambourines and even crowd noise to the song.

War Games is the traditional Halo PVP experience, but couched as training simulations for all the Spartans on board the infinity. In addition to classic modes such as Team Slayer and Capture the Flag, War Games also features some new modes, such as Regicide and Flood.
Spartan Ops is an episodic cooperative campaign which contains ten episodes, in which the player players as their Spartan IV character. After sinking Jacinto in order to flood the Locust Hordes’ subterranean homeland, the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) was forced to relocate their entire population to their former island stronghold and navy base on Vectes via Port Farrell. The growing threat from the emerging Lambent, however, has now forced the COG to abandon Vectes Island as well. As a result, the COG has been disbanded, and its population split up into smaller communities to avoid drawing attention from the Lambent. The player will once again assume the role of Sergeant Marcus Fenix, leader of Delta Squad, currently aboard the flotilla of ships housing the survivors as they deal with the relocation and fight off the lambent threat.
Gears 3 retains the shooter gameplay used in previous games, using over-the-shoulder third person system, as well as a cover system that allows players to move from cover point to cover point, roll and blind fire weapons/lob grenades. Players are now able to knock down opponents as a result of vaulting over short cover points. Players can also do a ‘roadie run’, which is essentially a sprint, except in a crouched stance to reduce profile. Also making a reappearance is the active reload, which speeds up reloading if the player hits reload again quickly enough, or a damage boost and a quick reload if the player times it to perfection.
New to the Gears series is the ability to play with four other player’s over Xbox Live, with the three other players taking on the role of Delta Squad. Gears of War 2‘s five player co-op Horde Mode also gets a revamp to Horde Mode 2.0. Also included is the new Beast Mode, the opposite of Horde, in which players fill the shoes of a member of the Locust Horde attempting to survive wave after wave of COG soldiers. In addition to these, all previous multiplayer game modes return.

Fable: The Journey is the fourth main game in the series and requires the Kinect peripheral to play. It is an open world action RPG game and follows the story of a young Dweller named Gabriel through the world of Albion set 50 years after the events of Fable III. The story centers around Gabriel, Theresa and the corruption that is starting to destroy Albion. With Theresa’s help, Gabriel must face the corruption and its various creatures head-on, by casting magic. This is performed through various hand gestures. Fable III is the third title in the Fable series of action role-playing games. Once again, the title takes place in the fictional land of Albion and follows fifty years after the events of Fable II.
The Hero of the previous game is recognized as bringing a new era of peace and prosperity to the land after defeating Lucien. The Hero brought unity and strength to Albion, and built a kingdom where there was once disparate villages. That Hero had two children and the older child, named Logan, eventually rose to rule the kingdom as successor to the fabled Hero. While originally a benevolent ruler, his policies and military began to turn gradually more oppressive. Word across the land has begun to ring of revolution.
Unlike the largely medieval-style theme of the previous titles, the industrial age has come to Albion (presumably in the wake of rampant growth brought by the previous game’s hero). As such, the style of Fable III resembles the United States and Great Britain during the 18th Century and the American Revolution.
Players take the role of Logan’s brother, working to gradually increase his own strength and powers, and to eventually build an army to overthrow his brother and take over the reigns of Albion. The new Hero is accompanied by a faithful partner in the form of a dog. As before, the game features a focused main storyline broken up by generous numbers of quests, the ability to work jobs, own real-estate, and get married remains. Once again, the player may choose to be good or evil, and the player’s decisions in the game reflect on changes in the game environment and on other characters. Weapons may also be changed according to how player’s move through the adventure.
A new element, however, is that the player is tasked with building an army to overthrow his brother. In order to build the strength to overthrow Logan, the player must actually “play politics” with the citizens of Albion, which may involve making promises keeping them once the player has taken over the kingdom.
Fable III also contains an online and multiplayer mode, somewhat more fleshed out than in Fable II. Rather than simply being a sort of henchman for other players online, player’s Hero characters can interact and quest with one another on a more equal status.

Long ago, before humans existed, the world was ruled by dragons. However, when humans came along, the dragons were all but wiped out thanks to the Four Lords, mighty god-like beings who defeated them in an epic battle. The Age of Fire began, a golden age for humanity, but such prosperity could not last. A curious affliction has started to appear: called the Darksign, those it brands are cursed to become an immortal undead, forever returning from death until they ultimately lose their minds. It is said that one day, a Chosen Undead will appear, and a great change will occur in the world. One of the many undead manages to escape the asylum he was locked in, which is seen as the first sign for the role he will eventually play.
Dark Souls is a third-person action RPG and a spiritual successor to 2009’s Demon’s Souls. Mechanically, it is very similar to its predecessor. The player can choose between several character classes for the protagonist, choose the gender, and customize his or her physical appearance. Character attributes can be manually increased when leveling up. The game takes place in a series of interconnected, mostly dungeon-like areas populated by enemies. Some areas can be accessed freely, though the enemies there may be too hard for the player to tackle at earlier stages. Combat allows detailed options such as active parrying, blocking, rolling, and different attacks with equipped weapon. The player must pay close attention to both their vitality and stamina meters. All actions will reduce stamina, and when the stamina bar is empty the player is left vulnerable.
Much like its predecessor, Dark Souls touts its hardcore pedigree and high level of difficulty. Even the most mundane of enemies can be deadly if not handled with care, and many situations will seem impossibly unfair at first glance, but there is always a solution to be found. The game takes place in the kingdom of Lordran, which is a large continuous world where all areas of the game are interconnected. The game also features a unique and extensive online play system, where players can attack or assist each other for benefits, as well as find and leave messages for each other.
The player can improve their abilities and equipment using Souls, which are taken from defeated enemies and function both as a currency and experience points. There is also a secondary, much more scarce currency called Humanity, which provides a number of situational benefits. Humanity can be used to revive to human form, which allows the player to kindle bonfires to earn more healing items, as well as to call for assistance from NPCs or other players. However, if the player is defeated, they will revert to hollow, return to the last bonfire they rested at, and lose all souls and humanity they had on them. It can be recovered by reaching the spot where they died, but if they die again before collecting them, they are lost forever.

Darksiders has players take on the role of War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who has been tricked into bringing about a war between heaven and hell, resulting in heaven’s defeat and the Earth’s enslavement. Now stripped of his powers by the Charred Council, he must go to Earth and punish those responsible for deceiving him and causing the enslavement of Earth. As well as having to fight hell’s minions, War has to contend with a group of vengeful angels that are bent on bringing him to justice. That way, not every important demon met in the game has to be defeated. War can make alliances with some of them when there are mutual interests.
The game has third-person hack-and-slash gameplay with a large variety in weapons and combos. These can be leveled up and are expanded with enhancements that provide active and passive abilities. Other actions include dodging, blocking, finishing off enemies with a special move, double jumping and gliding using wings, climbing ledges, throwing objects in the environment, and a mix of ranged-weapon and melee attacks. Defeating enemies provides blue souls. These can be exchanged with the demon Vulgrim at certain locations to acquire new attacks and items. Another important means of attack is Wrath. Enemies leave behind yellow clouds of this material and it is used to fill up a meter to perform special actions. Much of the game is spent fighting along with typical platform puzzle elements.
There are also sections with very different gameplay: flying in the air, fighting on horseback, and shooting angels out of the sky with a Redeemer ranged weapon. Levels are fairly linear, but all locations can be revisited afterwards later in the game through Serpent Holes. As War acquires new weapons and new means of attack, previously explored locations’ walls of crystals can be shattered to find new items. During the game War gains the ability to fill a Chaos meter and change into his Chaos Form. He transforms into a large demon and can easily take out large groups of strong enemies for a short time.
The game encourages focused surveillance of the environment to retrieve hidden objects and chests, and many collectibles. Some of these are used to extend the health or Wrath meter, while others can lead to the forging of a very strong armor.
