Angelo Lavranos Proteus design catamaran 35 ft – $77,000 usd / R1,4 million zar The Proteus design of Angelo Lavranos. Construction is epoxy/glass on BS1088 okumi plywood. The hull is sheathed in 400gram glass all over and the inside is epoxy saturated. The cabin top is PVC foam gassed with epoxy resin. Most of the components were CNC cut. Both hulls have watertight compartments in the fore and aft of each hull, rendering the vessel unsinkable. Angelo monitored the construction process (regular emails and pictures) and approved all design changes. He visited during the final stages of the process, and confirmed he was satisfied with the build.Essential features are:Fully battened mainsail and jib by Ulman sails. Storm jib and Yankee drifter in addition.Rigging is 12mm dyneema except fore the forestay which is 10mm stainless.Motors are 2 x 20hp Honda four strokes with trim and tilt on drop down sleds under the bridge deck.Daggerboards. and kick up transom hung rudders permit shallow water operation and make for better sailing performance.Two queen size berths in the aft of the hulls and a single settee birth in the saloon.Usual electronics -chartplotter/ depth sounder, radar, VHF with AIS.Raymarine autopilot with linear actuator attached to the rudder cross bar.Desiccating toilet in the heads – no holding tank or pump out required.300 watt solar power, 300 amp hour house batteries – outboards have their own batteries.Cat A COF – Epirb and Liferaft in service.This boat is simple, strong and easy to work on. For example, the outboards can be serviced in situ from a dinghy under the bridge deck. All cave lockers inside, with electrical wiring easily accessible.
