Need some spare cash? Up to R1,234, possibly even more?
I am looking for a complete SME 3009 or 3012, Series 1, Series 2 or Series 3 tonearm, in good condition, for a number of turntable projects that I am busy with.
If you have one available - probably attached to that old (broken) record player you got from your Dad, or Aunt Elaine, please give me a shout!
If it is incomplete, or broken, I would still be interested - talk to me. Even if you only have the headshell, or the weights, or any other bits and pieces, I would be interested.
And I will even give you a few rand for the turntable!
(See picture for what the SME arms look like. And even if yours is not an SME, but looks a bit like this, contact me - let's talk!)
I am also always looking for:
vinyl / LP records
old, broken turntables
old radio/audio valves (tubes)
old transformers
I always need spare parts! I fetch, or send a courier, and pay cash for your broken turntable or other parts.
Please note I do not sell turntable parts or spares, and I do not service turntables. Restoring turntables is my hobby, and when I have too many / need to make way for new projects, I sell off a few. So, if you are looking to buy, I might just be willing to part with one of my restored record players.

Sheena is an original (almost 50 years old) Systemdek Transcription Turntable, made by Dunlop Systems in Troon, Scotland. At the time she was considered a very high-end audiophile turntable – and, IMHO, so she remains. Her CLD (constrained layer damping) plinth was certainly ahead of its time, and she has internal suspension, three adjustable feet, a very heavy metal platter and a superb spindle bearing.
Sheena needed some TLC, and I was very happy to oblige. She has been cleaned, repaired, serviced, her suspension tuned and set-up properly and she is spinning perfectly. As with all Systemdek turntables from this era, her Nextel finish is not perfect, but it is actually in pretty good shape – see the photos. Her smoked plastic lid and hinges are in very good condition as well.
Sheena sports a superb classic Grace 747 tonearm and an excellent Nagaoka MP11 cartridge. How does she sound? Very, very good – I am happy to play my best vinyl LP records on this deck!
Sheena can be viewed, by arrangement, in Durbanville prior to purchase. She comes with a 30-day guarantee (excluding any damage caused by the user). She is available for R4,250 cash, and comes with one LP from my “donation” pile, and a bottle of MusicMan Magic record cleaning fluid. Regret no shipping. Please see my other ads for more turntables tables I am selling.
