Strandlopertjies is a charming, picturesque stone cottage located on the riverfront at the mouth of the Breede River. The interior is cosy, modern and artistically furnished. The cottage has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double bed, the second bedroom has two single beds/double bunk and then there is a second double bed in the lounge. Sleeps six in total.Please note that own linen and towels should be brought. There are duvet inners and pillows but own covers are needed. The cottage also offers a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely outside barbecue area under the old Milkwood trees close to the water. There is a cosy stove fireplace inside to warm up the winter evenings. There is no television. Strandlopertjies Cottage is ideal for children as there is a shallow sandy beach right in front of the cottage which is very safe for swimming.The area is also a paradise for fishing and fly-fishing enthusiasts and blood worm and pink prawns can be pumped right in front of the cottage. The surrounding area offers sailing and windsurfing, and is rated as one of the 10 best locations for kite surfing in the world. Other activities include hiking, bird watching, and of course, whale watching in the bay is one of the best whale watching spots in the country, and that the best months for that is during winter, June to October.Please note that it is a one hours gravel road from Swellendam to the cottage. Also there is only a farm shop where you can buy only the very basics, so food should rather be brought with. Braai wood can be bought at the farm shop. Own duvet covers, fitted sheets, pillow covers and towels should be brought along.
