Without this chicken feeder, it is almost guaranteed that pigeons in your area will have a feast at your cost. This chicken feeder will pay for itself!
WASTE PROOF
Chickens are messy feeders and flick aside unwanted food to get to their
preferred morsels.
The narrow feeding ports prevents the spilling of food as only the chickens
head fits inside.
Once in, the eyesight is limited, and they have to take whatever comes
into reach. An added advantage is that your area remains clean and not
attract rodents and flocks of birds, which might be carriers of diseases,
lice and mites.
RAINPROOF
No more soggy feed that goes to waste, but don’t place a garden sprinkler
nearby. The feeding ports prevent the intrusion of even heavy rain, but
not necessarily from water sprayed sideways as sprinklers do.
PIDGEON PROOF
Those birds are too short of reaching the feeding ports, and their necks
are not long enough to reach the content.
RODENT PROOF
Mice and rats will not reach the feeding ports, provided you don’t create
a platform from where they can get to the feeding ports.
WILD BIRD PROOF
The tunnel to the food at the bottom is too deep to reach.
NO FOOD CONTAMINATION
Faeces cannot contaminate the container’s contents.
SQUIRREL-PROOF?
We haven’t found out yet. Please let us know your experience.
This feeder is suitable for dry food like pellets and grain. Do
not fill it with water, vegetables, food scraps, etc. The feed level is clearly visible due to transparent plastic.
Avoid placing the container on a platform that has a larger
floor space than the feeder itself (as shown in the second product image).
Apart from making it possibly difficult for the chickens to reach the feeding
ports, birds, squirrels, and rodents get a chance to reach the food. We
recommend placing the container on bricks to a height that you deem fit for
your chickens.
The bricks in the product image are for demonstration only. They
are not part of the product, and we do not provide them. Find it on www.gardenstuff.co.za in the category 'Feather and Fur'.

Ko-shamo show quality breeding pairs
Ko-shamo
The ideal chicken for the city garden.
make great pets.
The Ko Shamo breed which is not as
demanding of space, or food, as are many
of the large and active game breeds.
Tame, relaxed and much quieter than most
chicken breeds, the Ko Shamo is ideally suited to the suburban garden.
HISTORY OF KO-SHAMO
In Japan Ko-Shamo are the most popular of the “Small Shamo shamo breeds" Ko-Shamo have very scanty plumage and muscular build. The aim is to have as much character as possible within the weight limits.
The Japanese are masters in minimizing objects and living things (bonsai trees, chickens, fish) The geographical conditions in Japan promote this skill. On the main island Honshu, there is almost no space to build, except on the East coastmargin, as Japan is mostly a country of hills and mountains. To enable the keeping of gamefowl in very small spaces they have created the Ko Shamo, a small game breed. A trio of these birds can be kept in a space of 4 square feet. Despite these conditions fertility is excellent, as is their laying ability and hatch rate. Chicks also grow without problems,
Ko Shamo are very popular in Japan and Europe due to their qualities and character.
