Isak Koch | Male Nude | 400mm x 300mm |
Oil | R2500 (Framed)
Isak was born to a framing family in June 1962. He attended school in Harrismith where he matriculated in 1980. Thereafter he studied Graphic Design at Vaal Triangle Technicon. After a two year interlude doing compulsory military service, Isak took up art again, first as a hobby, doing pyrography (burning pictures onto leather). Enjoying immediate success with a ready market, he turned his hobby into a full time occupation.
His work soon progressed to full colour renditions in oils and acrylics. Ever striving for realism and perfection, Isak established himself as a wildlife artist capable of producing super realistic works. His earlier works were eagerly purchased by clients, mostly from the USA, Spain, the UK and Germany. When Isak finally entered the South African market, he successfully diversified into other areas such as surrealistic landscapes, nude studies and many other themes.
He currently resides in Roodepoort, Johannesburg and dispite long hours of dedicated effort cannot meet the demand for his works.

He received a degree from the Art Institute of Seattle in graphic design. In 1993, as a virtual unknown, his painting of two lionesses won Best of the Show in Seattle's Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show. He is now recognized as one of the world’s top wildlife painters.
