Historical Marine 1852 original thermostat and copper holder The imitation ones are available but they don't have the historical originality and my one reads Fahrenheit and still reads accurately.Conversation formula is ie eg(75 F - 32)×5/9 = 24cIt is a original historical Marine item and really exquisite ♥️The specific of this piece is that due to the history and time frame this item is not something that comes on market with regularity and obviously has deep meaning to a collector.I have had this piece for over 20 years and really am sad to let it go. I only hope that the person who purchases it has the same sincere value and appreciation for its uniqueness. I am only selling as I am a Sassa pensioner and unfortunately have some need of extra finance right now.I am looking for R1000 for the ietem. The object in the image is an antique or vintage thermometer, manufactured by the renowned British scientific instrument makers Negretti & Zambra London, shown alongside its protective copper case. Manufacturer: Negretti & Zambra was a prominent company founded in 1850, known for producing high-quality optical and meteorological instruments, including thermometers and barometers, and were suppliers to the Royal Navy and the British government. Function: The instrument is a mercury-in-glass thermometer used for measuring temperature, with a scale marked in degrees Fahrenheit (F). Design: The thermometer features a white scale with markings from 20 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The accompanying case appears to be made of copper or brass, potentially designed for specific uses such as taking temperatures at sea, where a protective and pressure-resistant case would be necessary. Condition: The items appear to be in an unrestored, vintage condition, appealing to collectors of scientific history. Antique Marine Ship Thermometer. Has original copper hanging case.it is a confirmed historical Thermometer made in England/London in the 19th century. Another original was sold at auction in Cape Town for R1600. The manufacturer was Negretti and Zambra very reputable company in that period. The thermometer reads Fahrenheit and I have tested it over varying weather conditions. It is extremely accurate and the conversion formula to Celsius is:- Eg75f -32 =43 ×5/9= 24 cIt is a magnificent piece. The outside needs to be buffed and polished due to obvious weather conditions. Definitely a collectors item .I have had a lot of interest and I really hope that it goes to a happy Collector.
