Key Requirements:
To be considered for this crucial role, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
1. Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric) as the minimum formal qualification.
2. Experience: A minimum of 2 years proven experience in the debt review/debt counselling industry, or a directly relevant financial/credit management environment.
3. Registration: Must be a currently Registered Debt Counsellor with the National Credit Regulator (NCR) (or be able to provide proof of NCR registration process initiation if newly qualified).
4. Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, empathy, and administrative skills.
Core Responsibilities:
The Debt Counsellor will be responsible for managing thefull debt review process , including:
1. Conducting comprehensive financial assessments of consumers’ income and debt obligations.
2. Providing professional and confidential advice on the debt review process as per the National Credit Act (NCA).
3. Negotiating with credit providers to secure lower monthly payments and reduced interest rates for consumers.
4. Developing and presenting a workable
re-arrangement plan to the Magistrate’s Court or National Credit Tribunal.
5. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files and ensuring strict compliance with all NCR guidelines.
6. Liaising effectively with payment distribution agencies (PDAs), attorneys, and creditors.
