Condition: One of the early high-end Yamaha guitars in very good condition, with minor scuffs. And the guitar is in its original heavy-duty case.
History. This guitar was purchased in the UK in 1985. One owner since then.
From an online resource on the L10A: 'This guitar is not the kind of Yamaha you generally see. This guitar is from Yamaha's famed 'custom shop' where each guitar is hand-crafted from start to finish by a single luthier. Later L-series have leather labels signed by their luthier builders, but this pre-dates that. This is an all-solid-wood instrument easily comparable to any similar Gibson or Martin. For those who know, Yamaha's build quality is among the best in the guitar industry. Solid AAA grade spruce top over solid AAA grade Indian rosewood back and sides. African mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard and bridge. There is abalone purfling on the front and back, along with six-ply binding on the front, five-ply on the back. For reference, Martin uses five on the front, 3-4 on the back. Also, there is an abalone ring in the rosette. The L10A is the continuation of the successful L10 model with one change, the substitution of rosewood for ebony on the fretboard and bridge. Additionally, the L10A has an inlaid abalone strip on the center back where an inlaid wood marquetry strip usually would be. There is a rosewood overlay on the headstock, with the "Yamaha" name inlaid in mother-of-pearl. High-ratio sealed-back tuners are there so you can fine tune with ease.' (Reverb.com)
From Yamaha, on the unusual 7 number serial: 'These were made in the 1967 thru1976 timeframe. These Serials Will Have No Letters and Start With Either 0 or 1.'
