GENERATOR TECHNICIAN (DIESEL MECHANIC / EAST LONDON – This role requires a lot of out-of-town travel to Mthatha, Butterworth and Eastern Cape surrounds, applicants must be flexible, willing to travel, and of sober habits. After hour call outs will also be required. Valid Code 08 Drivers license is required for this position.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the proper functioning, maintenance, repair, and installation of generators. The successful Candidate will play a crucial role in various industries and settings where reliable backup power is essential, such as hospitals, data centres and manufacturing plants
Minimum Requirements
Matric, Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
Trade Test qualification will receive preference
Minimum 3 years’ experience working on Generators
Physically fit with good energy levels
Minimum Code 08 Driver’s license
Excellent work ethic – Positive attitude, honest, reliable, hardworking, dedicated and takes pride in work carried out, Team Player

Responsibilities
Installation of Generators – Volvo Penta, Caterpillar, Deutz, Perkins
Maintenance – routine maintenance tasks, inspecting and replacing filters, checking fluid levels, cleaning components, preventative maintenance
Repairs – Diagnosing faults, troubleshooting issues, perform necessary repairs to restore the generator to working condition i.e.: replacing components such as engines, alternators, fuel systems, control panels and electrical wiring.
Testing and commissioning – Load testing, voltage regulation testing, frequency testing and synchronization testing to ensure the generator can handle the required load
Emergency Response – Call outs on a roster basis to troubleshoot and repair generator issues to restore power as soon as possible, this requires the ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks to minimize downtime.
Documentation and reporting – maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and service history for each generator.
Compliance – ensure that generators comply with all relevant safety and regulatory standards, performing inspections, conducting tests and implementing necessary modifications or upgrades to meeting compliance regulations.
Salary – market related depending on experience
