Our client in the Logistics industry is seeking to employ an Operations Controller to join their company.
Duties include:
* Candidate will control and manage import and export operational files, from collection through to delivery, in accordance with the clients requirements. Communicate on a daily basis with the customer with regards to all shipments.
* Operational Processes
* Ensure that operational files are handled in accordance with the various process flows.
* Imports: Handle clients queries related to operations and documentary requirements needed to successfully facilitate the clearing/ forwarding process.
* Exports: Make an export booking with the preferred Shipping Line/ Groupage Operator/ Consolidator.
* Customs Clearing
* Transport and Delivery
* Finance and Administration
* Obtain invoices/ costs from all the relevant service providers prior to raising the invoice to the client ensuring that the invoices are checked/ authorised and sent to accounts for payment.
* Complete the cost sheet (detailed charges) and have the same approved prior to raising the invoice on the operating system.
* Ensure that the invoices and supporting documents are delivered to the client on or before the day the cargo is delivered for imports or 3 days after the confirmed shipped on board (sea) or the day of departure (air) for exports, or as per KPI requirement.
* Quality Control - Quality checks must be performed on the operations file prior to closing, ensuring that all the relevant documents are kept on file in accordance with the Customs & Excise Act 91 of 1964, as amended and the VAT Act 89 of 1991, as amended.
