Our client, one of the largest insurance and financial services providers in South Africa, is looking for a skilled Legal Counsel to join their dynamic team. The clients diverse portfolio spans retail and institutional businesses, including asset managers, collective investment scheme managers, and local and offshore wealth platforms. Key Responsibilities:Contractual Support & Product Development:Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of legal documents including investment management agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), LISP SLAs, client-facing documents, product terms, marketing material, and data agreements.Provide reliable legal support for various initiatives and projects, including the launch of new products and portfolios.Collaborate confidently within multi-disciplinary project teams, including tax, marketing, compliance, and IT.Ensure efficient management of contracts through the entire contract lifecycle and support continuous template improvements.Legal Advisory & Queries:Advise internal stakeholders on legal matters, contracting, service and product queries, and the implementation of legislation.Provide legal advice on operational processes and conduct legal research to deliver commercially focused opinions.Legal Risk Management, Governance & Compliance:Monitor, identify, and report on legal risks, legislative developments, and emerging risks in projects, policies, and systems.Work closely with regulatory compliance and risk teams to manage regulatory changes and embed a culture of good governance.Assist in implementing internal controls to mitigate legal risk.Support training initiatives regarding legal and regulatory updates.
