The incumbent will be responsible for:
Academic:
* Facilitating the training of students in Plant Pathology in practical classes by developing, preparing and presenting practical classes and taking responsibility for ClickUP and other administrative tasks directly linked to modules and the practical classes;
* Arranging excursions for practical classes with the industry/relevant parties;

* Coordinating and marketing Plant Pathology during i.e. #ChooseUP Day and the Career Fair;
* Helping with the management of the Plant Pathology website and other relevant social communication platforms;

* Managing the seminar room in Plant Pathology in terms of keeping it clean and booking out the facility;

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate- and postgraduate courses with the emphasis on biomechanics;Play an active role as academic nationally and internationally;Conduct departmental- and academic-related activities and responsibilities;Be involved in clinical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students;Mentor and supervise postgraduate students;Conduct collaborative research in their research specialisation area;Participate in community engagement and service delivery;Comply and assist with the Health Professions Council of South Africas (HPCSA) directives and minimum standardsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Lecturer: Masters degree in Human Movement Science (Biomechanics and /or Sport Science and/ or Biokinetics) or equivalent;Minimum of two publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals.Senior Lecturer: PhD in Human Movement Science (Biomechanics and /or Sport Science and/ or Biokinetics) or equivalent;Minimum of five publications in accredited peer-reviewed journals;Conference papers delivered;At least two postgraduate students supervised (completed);Minimum of three years experience in teaching;Course/block co-ordinator or equivalent;Experience in academic curriculum development and administration.REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES): Competent in the use of biomechanical devices (such as force plates, motion capture and electromyography) and the processing, analysis and interpretation of associated data;Evidence of research, postgraduate supervision, teaching and/or practical application of biomechanics in sport science and biokinetics;Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Power-Point);Interpersonal- and mentoring skills;The ability to work independently and in a team.ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES: Lecturer: One-year teaching/tutoring and research experience at undergraduate/postgraduate levels;At least two years experience working as a biomechanist, biokineticist or sport scientist;Some first author publications in peer-reviewed journals are recommended;Illustrate potential to become a competent lecturer at the undergraduate level;Illustrate potential to become an established researcher;To study further and to conduct research;Experience in interdisciplinary, collaborative research;Record of national and/or international teamwork.Senior Lecturer: At least five years practice experience as a biomechanist, biokineticist or sport scientist;Experience as supervisor of postgraduate students, preferably Masters level or higher;Teaching portfolio compliant with UP criteria;Community engagement recommended.
