The U.S. Mission in Pretoria is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for a position of Audio Visual Technician in the Information Programs Center (IPC).
Incumbent will be Pretoria’s Audio/Visual (A/V) Technician for all non-Public Affairs Section (PAS) events and capabilities. Ensures Pretoria has all required modern A/V systems and capabilities, including fixed and mobile systems with up to date equipment. Trains end-user and technical personnel in these systems and assists constituent posts in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, as needed, with similar A/V related tasks. Incumbent will also provide support to other posts in the region by request with Information Management Officer (IMO) approval. Audio Visual services are to be provided, including Digital Video Conferences, In-house television signal distribution to the Embassy, Internet video teleconferencing capabilities, Sound and Audio/Visual management for events outside of the Embassy and conducts training sessions to keep IRM staff (and PAS staff where applicable) at all four posts up to date. Reports to the Communications and Audio/Visual Programs (CAP) office supervisor.
*Acts as Regional Country AV Manager for all non-PAS sound and A/V equipment.*
* Manages all Embassy off-site Sound and A/V programs, including power-point presentations, sound, lighting, staging and Safety.
* Plans AV set ups with external contractors and staff for events.
* Operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs in-house television network system including DSTV decoders, AETN dish and decoders and AFN.
* Establishes and maintains professional relationships with senior-level Sound and A/V colleagues in the commercial sector in order to stay abreast of new developments and facilitate Sound and A/V arrangements during VIP visits.
* Formal and informal training with Mission constituent posts and regional A/V technicians on Sound and A/V equipment and ensures that all posts have their equipment with most recent technology and in working order.
* Maintains non-PAS AV historical content files (DVDs, as well as post- and Washington-generated video, audio, photo files for Mission and regional posts)
* Manages all sound and video capabilities in the CMR and DCMR.
*VTC and Internet video teleconferencing management and planning:*
* Oversees over $250,000 worth of VTC equipment country wide, including maintenance, testing and repairs.
* Training as well as communicating with internal and external contacts, scheduling and programming.
* Plans and implements Internet based conferencing tools and equipment such as Webex, Zoom and MS Teams for the Mission.
* Ensures Post is fully capable of operating in a pandemic and post-pandemic climate.
* Provides tools and capabilities for Mission-wide virtual meetings such as Town halls.
* Schedules, hosts and controls these meetings as necessary.
* Assisting customers with their work-related A/V capabilities.
