Andries Johannes Botha- 22 September 1952- South African artist who lives and works in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
As a young man, Botha engaged in printmaking and sculpture, and founded and chaired the Community Arts Workshop 1984–86.
He won several awards for his art, including the Volkskas Atelier Merit Award in 1987, the Cape Town Triennial Merit Award (1988), the Standard Bank Young Artist Award (1990) and the National Vita Art Award (1992). He created artwork based on traditional indigenous craft techniques.
Botha began lecturing at the Durban University of Technology in 1998. He founded the NGO Create Africa South Trust in 2002.
In 2006 Botha was invited to participate in the "Table of Free Voices" in Berlin. His creation "Dropping Knowledge" asked leaders in the fields of creative and scientific thinking to answer 100 questions put to them by the public simultaneously at a round table. That year he was commissioned for the Beaufort Triennale.
Botha founded the Amazwi Abesifazane Trust, registered in 2008, and the Human E l e p h a n t Foundation (registered 2009)
Botha has exhibited his drawings and sculptures in Brittany, the Canary Islands during 2008, South Korea during 2011 and locally in South Africa during 2010 and 2011.
Botha set up the Andries Botha Foundation (registered 2012). In 2012 he participated in "Planet under Pressure" in London where leaders in their fields discussed issues pertaining to sustainable development and the threats to the planet.
Botha has used his art to comment on the social and political challenges of his time. He also has created works on a variety of themes, including the co-existence of humans with other life forms, creativity, citizenship and lifelong learning.

Pieter van der Westhuizen (1931 - 2008) was active/lived in South Africa, Netherlands. Pieter vd Westhuizen is known for Abstract paintings of distorted faces, heads, portraits and landscapes, woodblocks.
Pieter van der Westhuizen was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1931. He studied art at Unisa under Zakkie Eloff, Leo Theron, Robert Hodgins and many others. In 1960 he also worked under Alfred Krenz and then in 1971 under Erik Launscher.
Between 1979 – 1980 Pieter attended the “National Hoger Institute voor Schone Kunst” at the Royal Academy for Fine Arts in Belgium. In 1982 and 1985 he continued his studies at the “Stedelijke Akademie” in Ghent and the “Ryk’s Centrum voor Grafiek” in Kasterlee, Belgium. During 1983 and 1985 he studied wood-block printing in Japan.
His work comprises of mainly landscapes, portraits, still life’s figures and abstract pictures. Pieter van der Westhuizen has held many solo and group exhibitions. In 1988 and 1989 he was invited to exhibit with Marc Chagall, Yaacov Agam and Ben Avram in Madrid, Spain. His biggest and most successful exhibition ever held in South Africa was to mark his 65th birthday celebration.

She first qualified as a medical technician and worked for some years in clinical research in both London and Sydney, but has now been living in Oxford and painting full time for about 40 years. this afforded him the opportunity to travel widely and live in many international cities during this period of some 20 years, john represented s a t o u r in australia, the european continent and great britain, where he made full use of the opportunity to visit famous art galleries and also to attend exhibitions by prominent international artists
john had a life long interest in painting " ala prima" style in oils
although self taught, he followed his interest with great enthusiasm
to this day
john moved to cape town in 1978 to start the cape tourism authority ( c a p t o u r) where he held the positions of managing director and director of publicity for cape town until his retirement in 1992
john regularly exhibited in local exhibitions as a member of the south african association of artists
he also exhibited in germany and paris where he took up residence at the cité internationale des arts
john paints portraits on commission and he developed a reputation for his lighting quick caricatures of which there must be thousands around the globe
