Incidentally the title Hideous Kinky is derived from a free association word game enjoyed by Lucy and Bea.
Set in 1972, the film follows Julia, a young English mother who, disillusioned with life in London, moves to Morocco with her two young daughters, Lucy and Bea. They navigate a new life in Marrakech, supported by the sale of hand-sewn dolls and occasional money from the girls' absent father. The lamp hangs on lugs that are fitted on the side of the telegraphs head and they are specific to the diameter of the telegraphs head.
