“The wilderness is something special. To me, the only way to experience the real spirit of Africa is on foot. Away from the noise and turmoil of modern society, it truly helps you to get your terrestrial problems into perspective.†– Norman Carr, Kakuli Kruger’s Private Bush Camps are located in the exclusive Timbavati and Klaserie private game reserves, which are part of the Big Five Greater Kruger National Park. Situated on riverbeds, surrounded by Leadwood, Mopane and Acacia trees or shaded by huge Jackalberry trees, these authentic, unfenced 8-bedded tented camps have a real African charm typically enhancing that true wilderness feeling. With a focus on experience rather than luxury the maximum of 8 guests sleep “safari style†under canvas in twin-bedded Meru-style tents, linen and towels provided. Hot showers and flush toilets are separate but closely situated between the tents, so easily accessible to all the guests. Bush walks and game drives accompanied by an experienced and knowledgeable guide, are offered early in the morning, late in the afternoon and at night. The camps have no electricity, but there is solar lighting in the tents, bathrooms, kitchen and dining areas and there are candles, paraffin lanterns and a camp fire to guide you around at night. Due to the remoteness of the camps and exclusivity of the areas, and to enhance quality game sightings, the min stay that is required is 3 nights. Packages are available from Fri-Mon (3 nights) or Mon-Fri (4 nights). A shuttle service between Johannesburg and the meeting point is available every Monday and Friday – the list of collection/drop-off points will be made available on confirmation.
