Assistant Plant Manager - Germiston The successful candidate must have a Bachelors degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 15 years experience in a manufacturing environment and at least 8 years experience in a management role, 5 of which must be in senior management and will be responsible to:* Provide support to the Head of Operations in planning, developing and implementing short and long term operational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures* Maintain plant operating procedures* Manage and oversee activities of all technical personnel* Investigate safety incidents, review safety reports and take corrective action as required* Implement lean manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement, sustainable production savings, increased waste reduction and company profitability* Oversee plant operations, ensuring plant rounds and inspections are performed, and that actions are initiated to correct issues as appropriate* Oversee plant shut down and start-up procedures to ensure they are properly executed* Plan, coordinate and execute all outages to minimize down time* Provide operations expertise in developing and troubleshooting plant control and performance issues* Prepare required operations reports* Oversee daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records* Develop and enforce Quality Assurance policies, procedures and budgets in line with Quality & Food Safety Management Systems and best practices* Direct & coordinate activities of the companys strategic plans and reviews* Validate suppliers credentials through the Supplier Qualification Process* Review & verify the Certificate of Analysis for each batch of raw materials ordered before they are shipped* Ensure that all operational activities comply with established job safety practices and standard operating procedures for safe performance of work assignments* Ensure operations are compliant with all laid-down HSE policies and procedures* Participate in the recruitment and selections of all technicians, using established selection processes to maintain adequate staffing levels* Determine development needs of technical personnel* Provide direction to the Quality department and ensure the quality of work meets with performance expectations* Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring to subordinates

The purpose of role is to ensure the efficient and effective engineering support to various departments, support the Service team to meet deadlines, business objectives and the customers’ needs in relation to products and service in accordance with company policies and procedures, Health & Safety, and Quality requirements.
Provide excellent customer service, product knowledge and technical expertise to all internal and external customers and employees. * Create and update Material Master Numbers
* Create and update QCP’s for Engineered pumps

*REQUIREMENTS:*
* Minimum* *National Diploma Mechanical Engineering
* Mechanical experience on plant and pump set package engineering
* 5 years’ experience in pump, motors, mechanical seals, drawings, planning, pump selection, design, installation and maintenance
* Experience on Multistage, boiler feed and boiler circulating pumps would be an advantageous
* Computer literate.
* SAP experience
* Solid Edge or similar 3D Cad / Mechanical Design – Advantageous
