Our client is looking for a certified Scaffolding Inspector to join their team in Bluff, Durban. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure that all scaffolding required in the live operating plant is installed safely in accordance with the industrial standards and as per the approved company procedure.Inspect and certify quality of scaffolding materials which includes tubes, boards and fittings to ensure they comply with the correct company standards.Select and identify suitable type of scaffolding for the safe execution of works in a live operating plant.Conducts inspection and certifies the quality, suitability and safety of scaffolding as per the industrial standard and best industrial practices.Monitor the erection and dismantling of scaffolding as per the approved method statement and in accordance with the plant operating procedures.Capable of understanding and verifying erection of scaffolding as per the drawings.Capable of Identifying task hazards involved in scaffolding and how to negate them.Ensures scaff-tags are signed and kept up to date with relevant information.Inspects all scaffolds on site daily and keep records for any future audit.Provides valuable input in incident investigations with respect to the integrity of the scaffolding.Maintain a record of the condition of all scaffolding materials and ensure that they are maintained correctly and are removed from site and disposed of, if found damaged or defective.To provide advice on the suitability of specialized scaffolds supplied by contracting companies with regard to the functionality of the scaffold to meet the health and safety requirements of Company.Assists in updating work procedures for all practical aspects of scaffolding work.Responsible for ensuring standard and quality of work executed.Coordination with inter departments on day to day work as essential.Provides work recommendation and site advice to the client.Has frequent contact with operations and plant maintenance staff to ensure the on-going requirements for safely erected scaffolds are maintained.PREFERRED SKILLSAbility to follow instructions in an efficient manner.Comfortable with heights and physical labour.Problem solving skills.Efficient commutation skills.Willingness to learn new concepts and ideas.Previous experience in construction/scaffold industries is required.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSCertification required.Must have between 3 – 5-year experience in the role.Must be able to pass pre-employment numeracy/literacy test and background check

Our Client, a leader in the Chemical Industry, has a vacancy for an Environmental Health and Safety Practitioner based in Amanzimtoti, Durban.
The key focus of this role is to administer and manage EHS Systems, ensuring that high EHS standards are achieved and maintained. This role requires a minimum of 50% of time spent within the factory, warehouses and offices monitoring EHS standards and engaging directly with the workforce.
Environmental Health and Safety:
* Responsible for the personal health and safety of others.
* Conduct site induction for all visitors and contractors.
* Implement, monitor and review EHS procedures and other EHS aspects.
* Conduct rigorous EHS Risk Assessments (RA) and implement gap closure.
* Implement, review and audit ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
* Conduct weekly EHS audits and inspections to ensure safe and effective operations.
* Engage the workforce on all aspects of EHS and report any deviation to management.
* Chair the monthly safety meeting and safely maintain records as required.
* Organise annual medical surveillance and update EHS statistics.
* Maintain and update the EHS notice board.
* Timeously report incidents on EHS systems and close them out timeously.
* Coach safety champions on their work, and assist them with inspections.
* Work closely with the Compliance Manager to ensure compliance to legal and regulatory requirements.
* Investigate all EHS incidents and implement the necessary corrective action accordingly.
* Grade 12 (Twelve) Certificate.
* NEBOSH or SHEMTRAC or NDip or BTech Safety Management.
* Registration with Saiosh - Key requirement.
* At least 3 (Three) years of experience in managing the site SHEQ function.
* At least 3 (Three) years of experience in legal audits, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
* Strong leadership skills.
* Result- and deadline-driven.
* Good communication skills.
* Willing to spend 50% of time on shop floor engagements.
* Clear criminal record.
Slightly negotiable: R16 000 to R18 000 monthly.
* Grade 12 (Twelve) Certificate.
