This opportunity is with a well-established telecommunications and network services organisation operating within fibre infrastructure and high-performance connectivity solutions. The business focuses on quality network builds, precision execution, and dependable service delivery across residential and enterprise environments.The Fibre Optic Splicing Technician will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fibre optic networks. This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring strong technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to diagnose and resolve network faults efficiently. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and fellow technicians to deliver high-quality fibre links on time and to specification.Key Responsibilities:Perform fibre splicing, termination, and testing using OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicersConnect FTTH and FTTB clients to GPON networksDiagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fibre optic network faultsRead and interpret network designs, schematics, and technical drawingsBuild and test end-to-end enterprise fibre linksMaintain accurate records, test results, and as-built documentation after each link buildCollaborate with project teams to meet deadlines and quality standardsJob Experience and Skills Required:Education:National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalentFibre optic technical certifications (FOA, CFOT, or similar) advantageousExperience:Minimum 3 years experience in fibre optic splicing, installation, and testingProven experience working on FTTH, FTTB, and GPON networksExperience building end-to-end enterprise fibre links (highly advantageous)Skills:Proficiency with OTDRs, power meters, fusion splicers, and related testing equipmentStrong understanding of fibre cabling standards, specifications, and best practicesExperience with underground and aerial fibre installationsStrong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilitiesHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipOther Non-Negotiables:Comfortable working at heights, outdoors, and in confined spacesPhysically able to lift and carry equipmentValid drivers licence and reliable transportWillingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call supportAble to work in adverse weather conditionsApply now!For more exciting Finance, Engineering, IT, Supply Chain, Commercial & C-Suite vacancies, please visit:
