*Description:* A South African based company that does embedded software development for international partners requires a Senior Robotics Control System Engineer to join their growing team. Key duties will include: lead a remote controls team, developing and maintaining control systems for innovative robotic products; develop and design new prototype devices; familiarity with the software robotic operating system, system design and integration as well as linear/non-linear and optimal control system design techniques; design systems using mechanical, electrical design and software development skills; create requirements for control systems, failure modes and effect analysis.
*Key Requirements:* BSc or BTech in Mechanical, Electrical, Software or Mechatronics Engineering with at least 5 years’ experience in modern controls for robotics, ROS, navigation and planning. Demonstrated ability to lead a team essential. At least 5 years’ experience with Python and C++. Experience with modern controllers design techniques required.

provides services to operators of large utility scale solar projects. My client
has an opportunity for a Technical Project Manager to join the team.
Job
Description:
The candidate
will be responsible for execution of projects relating to the installation and
commissioning of specialised weather stations and follow-up maintenance visits.
The candidate will work with solar and other meteorological instruments, data
logging equipment, software and communication systems. Many of the sites are in
remote locations as well as other African countries.
These
activities include but are not limited to:
Project management,
Liasing with clients,
Remote technical support to both clients and team,
Design and develop customised weather stations,
Monitoring, processing and reporting on data received from stations,
Overseeing of
the following activities:
Building, assembly and testing of weather stations (office based) prior to
it being installed.
Logistics, installation and commissioning of remote weather stations in
the field or at utility scale
solar plants.
Scheduled and unscheduled site visits to perform troubleshooting and
maintenance.
Minimum
requirements:
BTech Degree in Electronic, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering or
equivalent qualification.
National Diploma candidates with in-depth experience will be considered.
At least 4 years working experience.
Valid driver’s licence and driving experience.
Good English proficiency.
MS Office proficient.
Valid work permit and related documentation (if non-South African)
The following
will be beneficial but not a requirement:
Previous exposure to data loggers and measurement instruments.
Interest in renewable energy.
Knowledge of computer networks or communication protocols (e.g. Modbus
TCP/IP / RS485, etc.).
Previous experience in remote outdoor site work.
The candidate

Hands-on / practical
The
successful candidate will undergo on the job training which will involve
frequent travel and on-site work

The candidate will work with solar and other meteorological instruments, data

communication systems. Many of the sites to be supported are in remote

internationally.
These activities include but are not limited to:
Data logger programming,
Remote technical support,
Data scrutinisation and quality control,
Design, building, assembly and testing of weather stations (office-based
system integration),
Interfacing weather station data loggers with various communication
protocols (e.g. Ethernet,
Modbus RTU
RS485, Modbus TCP/IP, RS232),
Factory acceptance testing of weather stations,
Trouble shooting, fault finding, maintenance, fixing and refurbishment of
equipment,
Monitoring, processing and reporting on data received from stations,
Create high quality project documentation like wiring diagrams, technical
manuals and acceptance
tests,
Minimum
requirements:
Good English proficiency,
Between 2 - 5 years’ work experience,
Knowledge of computer networks and communication,
Experience with SQL,
Programming skills (C, C++, CR-basic, Python, etc.),
MS Office proficient,
Valid driver’s licence,
Relevant qualification - National Diploma (or higher) in IT/ Computer/
Electronic or Mechatronic
Engineering.
The following
