Necsa: Head of Radiolabeling (Science Group Leader) Job Purpose To ensure that the Radiochemistry early R&D executed and accelerated and take the lead inensuring that new radiochemical and radiopharmaceutical compounds are into the value chain prior to preclinical and clinical testing. The Radiolabeling section forms an integral part of the identified medical diagnostic therapy impact area at Necsa. Key Performance Areas • Develop new radiochemical and radiopharmaceutical products, i.a. for NT but also for other clients;• Execute TRL 3 and lower research projects for NTP in line with the tax incentive and as governed by the SLA-2 agreement as well as product improvement in line with SLA1;• Draft and ensure sign off of work Authorisations by clients;• Ensure smooth hand over of products that have passed TRL=3 stage gate to the preclinical & GMP section/group; • Evaluate the process of compounds passed on for further evaluation in collaboration with the Preclinical Head and GMP Head;• Conclude new collaboration projects with Universities and abroad and ensure contracting processes are authorised by Necsa legal and OTT;• Encourage staff to enrol in technical & scientific study programmes related to job descriptions;• Ensure funding from the NRF (for human capital development and equipment) to supplement the grant funding;• Supervise PDP students funded by NRF.• Ensure the group/section meets its publication, IVD and conference presentation targets;• Develop new radiopharmaceutical products in cooperation with the group for external entities in line with NTeMBI cluster model; Minimum Qualifications & Experience: • PhD in Chemistry with 5 years working experience in a radiochemistry laboratory.• Short courses in management.• Student supervisor of at least one MSc student - successfully completed. * Engage with existing and potential customer base (Surgeons, Critical Care Personnel, Anaesthesiologists, Purchasing agents and other appropriate decision makers/opinion leaders on different levels) in line with the company expectations.
* Drive sales effort through scheduling and conducting ongoing sales visits and presentations in the field with follow up visits, telephone calls, letters and other appropriate actions (sampling, hands on training etc.) in order to generate orders.
* Supply hospitals, physicians, clinical and homecare staff with current product information, catalogues and samples.
* Interact with internal personnel to resolve customer complaints and questions.
* Grow market share and revenue through existing customers and the development of new customers.
* Plan and prepare all relevant materials and customer visit schedules in preparation for tenders.
* Provide in-service educational seminars for the clinical staff of hospitals, including face to face seminars during hospital shift changes.
* Prioritize goals in the sales territory based on customer and company needs. Proactively plan comprehensive coverage of the territory based on needs assessment.
* Negotiate sales contracts and pricing with customers; review existing contracts to identify those requiring follow-up.
* Comply with defined administrative responsibilities including but not limited to call logs, field activity reports, Market Action Plans, device vigilance, forecasting, quotations, complaint handling and management of territory expenses.
* Attend and exhibit at national conventions/seminars to gain new customers through the detailing of products. Where local provide all necessary assistance as requested.
* Exhibit at local professional/medical meetings to develop new customers.
* Train and direct new field personnel and company personnel on divisional products, as requested.
* Continuously improve product knowledge not only through product training but also through self-development processes (study, hands on experience, etc.) and the review of current literature for new developments.
* Minimum 3-4 years’ experience within a sales role in a similar role
* Knowledge and aptitude for medical devices and surgical products
* Trained health professional an advantage
* Good level of verbal and written English language is essential.
* Excellent customer ethic, good attention to detail and ability to complete timely progress reports according to requirements
* Strong communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
* Able to demonstrate good presentation and training skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for:
* Performing excellent patient care and handling;
* Clinic administration (record keeping, hygiene, stock control, care of equipment, safety measures etc.);
* Supervising personnel;
* Administering and monitoring of sedation and assist with monitoring of anaesthesia;
* Assist with emergency procedures;
* Communicating with patient owners;
* Demonstrating techniques to and instructing students and student nurses and evaluating student nurses’ performance
* Training and guiding own team;
* Performing relief duties in other sections in the OVAH;
* Performing shift duties

* Previous and/or current experience of one year or more in a high pressure emergency clinic environment where patients are triaged and multiple emergency procedures take place simultaneously, will be an advantage
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
