A busy workshop in East London is looking for a
permanent Diesel
Mechanic.
This position will require travelling to our project sites throughout the
Eastern Cape, which may include overtime and overnight travel.
Candidates must have a clear criminal record, be in
good health & be in possession of a valid driver’s licence.
Requirements:
Trade tested diesel mechanic with 8 – 10 years of (mechanical,
hydraulic, and electrical) experience. MUST INCLUDE YELLOW PLANT AND TRUCK
EXPERIENCE. Work will also include services and repairs to small plant.Must be able to overhaul engines, perform services, correctly
diagnose faults, and carry out maintenance & repairs on both trucks
and yellow plant.General working knowledge of auto electrical systems (ignition,
starting, charging, illumination).Ability to identify and correctly utilise relevant diagnostic
equipment and specialised tools (candidate to have their own basic tools).Valid drivers’ license, code 8 or above.Experienced in the operation of a variety of tools, welding
equipment, etc.Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition.Highly organised and self-motivated; working unsupervised whilst
using own initiative and problem-solving skills.Ability to effectively manage time and administration related to
job cards, etc.Ability to execute job function with urgency but ensuring that
quality of work is not compromised.Willing to travel out of town for breakdowns.Working Monday to Saturday, willing to work after hours for
breakdowns / overtime.Ability to manage sub-ordinates (if the need arises).Salary is negotiable (dependent on experience, qualifications, and

Ensure proper protection of equipment to avoid damages and scratches.For proper analysis and feedback on TORIS Inspection data, ensure consistent downloading of Torque data from DataMyte onto computer through SPC Management software.Perform Annual review of TORIS Torque Verification Specifications to ensure the set-up specification stays relevant.For samples found to be out of specification, ensure that the necessary verification processes are followed by TORIS Inspectors that Production is informed of non-conformance and that actions are taken to address the risk.
